So I started my job on Monday. Glory. I'm working for a non-profit called Seattle Works. It is their goal to get younger adults more engaged in their communities by providing them with a variety of resources whether it be events or volunteer opportunities. So far it pretty much feels like a job, but tomorrow I get to paint a mural on their wall which is AWESOME.
Me & Chelsea got to explore Pioneer Square yesterday. It's the older historic part of Seattle by the water, but it's really cool and trendy. We went to this taco place called Taco del Mar and it was delicious, but we got the feeling that it was a dude's place because we were the only females in the place. Whatevs. Another strange thing I saw was that on their menu, they listed the calories of each item on the menu. The Taco Salad was 850-1050 calories--more than anything else on the menu! WTF.
After we ate, we went to this massive bookstore called the Elliott Bay Bookstore and as I have told Liz, "When I go into Barnes & Noble (or any bookstore for that matter) I make the Sign of the Cross. It's like my Mecca." Conflicting ideologies, I know, but you get the point. So I was in there for quite a bit of time and I got the book, "Life of Pi" because I have been meaning to read it. I have also been reading the books that the show True Blood is based on as well as "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies." :)
That day we also saw the cutest thing that I have ever seen. We came upon a lady walking her dogs, but they just weren't any dogs. She had two teacup chihuahuas dressed up like princesses and this bigger chihuahua that was dressed up like a gangsta. He was wearing dreadlocks and sunglasses. LOLZZZZ. I almost started sobbing because I couldn't internalize how cute I thought they were. hahahaha. I wish I would've gotten a picture :-/
On Monday, our boss took us out to lunch at a Japanese place called Boom Noodle in Capitol Hill (a trendy hipster Seattle Community). It was amazing. I particularly liked the ahi tuna tacos. I know that sounds kind of gross, but if you don't mind raw fish (which i love) then it was beyond words. Afterwards, me & Chels went exploring around in the nearby blocks and we found this awesome vintage store called "Atlas Clothing" and I really wanna go back there.
Another new development is that I have found my Medina (aka another important Islam sight). I don't know if any of y'all know what Pinkberry is, but it is a frozen yogurt place and the frozen yogurt is actually yogurt flavored. They also provide you with an assortment of fruit toppings and other nifty things. Weeeeellllll, I found a place called Red Mango and it is the original FRO-YO place that Pinkberry was copied from, and the awesome thing is that it's like a 10 min. walk from my dorm!!! I'm going to have to start making the Sign of the Cross when I go there.
So I think that's all I have to say for now. I love how I talked about food in basically every paragraph, but it's true--Seattle has great food. There is a lot of asian food, which is fine by me because I lovvvesss it (not really Chinese though-ughhh). I'm more of a Japanese/Korean/Thai/Mongolian girl.
I will have more pics later!!! Keep on the lookout.
Today I am leaving a website link instead of a quote...
